Dear Shaded Viewers,
Last night I (along with a stellar cast of other NY personalities) was a guest on Vaginal Davis's talk-show-as-performance art piece, "Speaking from the Diaphragm" at PS 122 in New York. (The show runs through May 27 with a plethora of special guests.) It was an hallucinogenic experience that mixed elements of the Mike Douglas & Dinah Shore shows with raunchy East Village polymorphous perversity. Vag was invited to do the show as a recipient of Ethyl Eichenlberger Award. She is the first non-New Yorker to win the award.
Hanging out before the show: Author Bruce Benderson, me & artists Slava Mogutin & Brian Kenny

Vaginal warms up her diaphragm before the audience arrives.
Vag & her co-host, Carmelita Tropicana (my neighbor) assess one of the Chat Roulette Dancers. I thought he looked like Brad in the Rocky Horror Show.
Another luscious Chat Roulette Dancer
Vaginal & Carmelita perform Vag's Billboard Top 10 hit "My Pussy is a Cactus."
Carmelita is feeling it!
The Chat Roulette Dancers writhed ecstatically amongst the audience members.
I took a photo of the audience during my interview. My friends Nancy & Christine are in the 2nd row.
Pierrot shares his subversive knitting theories with the audience.
Vag & singer Carole Pope discuss Carole's upcoming tour dates & her memoir, "Anti Diva."
The scantily clad dancers supplied Vaginal with endless vodka-cranberry refreshments…
…and refreshing analingus sessions.
Jennifer Doyle joined us via Skype to discuss her book "Sex Objects: Art and the Dialectics of Desire."
Gio Black Peter & Brian Kenny whipped the audience into an erotic frenzy.
All of the show's guests were treated to dessert at the end of the show. Yummy!
Carole Pope couldn't resist a lick of coochie cream.
Thanks for reading!
