Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,

Oh how I long for Paris and couture in January! This year, however, London has much to distract me with. On Thursday, the Business of Fashion is holding a fabulous party at the Swarovski Communications Centre, which I will write and tell you all about. This is also the first week of the Design Museum's Hussein Chalayan-From Fashion and Back. Those of you who know the museum will be aware of director Deyan Sudjic's talented presentation of fashion exhibitions. The 2007 Matthew Williamson retrospective is a personal favourite.

The year before, Chalayan was presented with an MBE for his services to the fashion industry, making the Cypriot an honorary British designer.

This exhibition is the first comprehensive display of his work in the UK. Spanning fifteen years of experimental projects, the exhibition explores his unique creative approach, his inspirations and the many themes which influence his work such as cultural identity, displacement and migration.
