Our enjoyable stay in London at the Courthouse Hotel

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Last year when I was in London for my perfume launch at Liberty, I was delighted with my suite at the Courthouse Hotel. The Courthouse Hotel is directly across the street from the historic and iconic Liberty department store. Before the Courthouse Hotel was renovated and transformed into a 5 star hotel, the building was a magistrates court, the second oldest in the UK, dating back to the 1800’s. As a little piece of memorabilia, the English writer, Charles Dickens worked as a reporter in the building for the Morning Chronicle, 2 years before the first appearance of Oliver Twist.

While still a courthouse there was an all-star cast of characters with famous cases being heard there such as Louis Napoleon , John Lennon, Oscar Wilde, Johnny Rotten, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

This year when Marcus Mam, the co-founder of takeit.to, a new media sharing platform for creatives, and I planned our trip to London to present the platform, of course the first hotel that came to mind was the Courthouse Hotel. This time I did not have a suite but our rooms were spacious and quiet, which is a real plus considering the hotel is located on Great Marlborough Street in West London. The lobby has a massive vaulted ceiling and frescos of blue skies and floating clouds and I found the shell chairs at the entry irresistible. We loved  the breakfast room and found the staff extremely helpful when it came time to figure out the best route around the massive city. In brief, A Shaded View on Fashion recommends the Courthouse Hotel.

Taxis are readily available and the closest tube stop is a few minutes walk from the hotel, Oxford Circus.
