As part of Altaroma, The Accademia Costume & Moda presented ten student collections at the Talents 2015 Fashion Show.
Congratulations to Nicolas Martin Garcia, who won the competition for his pastel menswear collection, 'Lolito', and Silvia Stefanucci who gained a special mention for her accessories, which skilfully combined materials like leather and plastic garbage bags.
It was interesting to see that a good few of the collections presented transformable garments; those that could be worn by men and woman in different ways, turned inside out, or worn in another way. When nearly everything we use has a multipurpose function, it makes sense that these designers are taking this approach in their garments, making them even more relevant for their generation and this moment.
I'd also like to give a special mention to Tomasso Fux's collection, 'Miku'. His vision of armoured Samurai worriers was elegant and restrained, and was made all the more convincing by his impressive construction and leatherwork. His final model emerged as a geisha, taking hold of the power in her poise and soft handpainted silk. It was beautiful.
