Photographisme-Klein,Ifert,Zamecznik at Centre Pompidou till January 29th – photos and text by Runzhou SUN

Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,

Lots of people are obsessed with Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”, but this time, I would like to invite you to discover the universe created by  three graphic designers.

Currently there is an exhibition, Photographisme,  at Centre Pompidou featuring three groups of works of abstract photography and the graphic arts, which are:

1.Inventive Mind by Gérard Ifert ;

2.Liberating Abstraction by Wojciech Zamecznik ;

3.Painting with Light by William Klein.

This exhibition makes your mind travel. Some works look like Arabian calligraphy, while others made me think of Chinese paper cuttings and the game of Go…Actually these works were used in illustrations in publishing and communications. However, I think these surrealistic even futuristic patterns could easily be applied to both fashion and textile designs. I think it could be great fun to wear these patterns on my clothes.

Later,

Runzhou
