November 8th at Atelier Basfroi, Antoine KRUK introduces us to his new work “Buy Buy Baby” observing our modern time, urban speed life. It is all about beauty, frivolity and consumer society and it is a ‘premiere’ for him regarding his paintings techniques and his sizes, he’s going BIG .
In his own words:
Fashion addiction, beauty addiction, shopping addiction … as it seems that we run and run, and never get satisfy .
My paintings are expressing that ambivalent state.
Bodies are in movement, deformed by strange perspective, as seen in a lens.
Sometime gloriously walking, sometime vacillating, or in a melancholic resting .
Are we becoming product, a commercial value, as well as product we are buying everyday ? Who consumes who ?
All those shopping bags who seems to be empty or fully heavy, all those too high heels, or those dresses desaparing,
are trying to tell the naked truth between strength and fragility .
