The new Chalayan collection encapsulates a sense of despair seen within digital culture combined with a neo sense of Entitlement seen amongst the same waves of individuals.
The sense of entitlement is represented by framing the body with accessories and various cutting techniques that serve to re-define the sense of self.
We live in an era where everyone is a curator, and entitlement – whether real or misplaced – begets confidence in one’s own knowledge and opinions. Crystal-embellished post-it notes emulate this accepted process of curation, selection and taste-making in a Brand Me world.
In light of the above, the Chalayan sartorial element in tailoring will pivot the collection to the core values of the house where structure and fluidity work together. Swarovski has been a long-time partner of Chalayan, and this season once again shows how Swarovski crystals are an essential creative ingredient in the storytelling of Chalayan’s shows.
