LUNAR BLACK, Danilo Bucchi at MACRO in Rome by Chiara Sabatini

Dear Diane, dear Shaded Viewers,

Last week I attended the exhibition’s opening of Danilo Bucchi in Rome and  I highly recommend that you go and see it. I’ve known him for almost 20 years and this time he really impressed me with a poetic journey into his LUNAR BLACK universe.
In this evocative exhibition at Macro Contemporary Art Museum, the artist represents the dreams through the abstraction of the cosmos with eight new great works and the “Illusion” projection belonging to the cycle of light boards.

“Bucchi aims at boosting his gesture throughout a new method: realistic and figurative, able to pull out a sign, materializing and outlining a necessary shape to contain the heaviness of the color.

Language is the only tool that an artist has to truly express himself, in a visible and concrete, infallible and also fearless way.”  said his curator Achille Bonito Oliva.
The lunar era of Danilo Bucchi transforms black color into a feeling of introspection that allows us to lose ourselves in the disturbing images of dreams where imagination becomes substance.Best,
Chiara
