Dear Diane, dear Shaded Viewers,

Yesterday I dropped by the showroom and HQ of Pelotari.Project, a new high-tech/casual-fashion brand in Spain. Pelotari comes from the basque pelota players -Jai Alai-, and you can see this reference in the mannequin tops that are made with a tip basket, which I must admit is a great visual hook. A certain essence of the typical basque garments can be found too in the pieces they’re creating…

The brand’s aesthetic is pure and apparently austere but also very warm and friendly, besides extremely sharp and researched. The inner structure of the pieces they’ve produced at the moment are so complex and innovative that reminded me of another illustrious basque man, Mr. Balenciaga, and his obsession with construction.

Jackets can be folded into a back pocket to create a sort of pillow and the tissue is extremely soft, light and fully water resistant. Ideal for the northern weather or rainy spring time… Practical yet chic and casual at the same time, this new brand is already being distributed in some of the best shops in Spain but I’m certain they’ll grow very fast: www.pelotariproject.com

Kindly,
Mario.
