Alexandre de Betak designs futuristic exhibition space for Galerie Gmurzynska at TEFAF New York Spring photos Courtesy of Galerie Gmurzynska

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Alexandre de Betak is known for his set designs, scenography and as a creative director who has designed and produced shows for fashion’s greatest such as Dior, Celine, Hermes, Rodarte, Hussein Chalayan and many more. I met him when he was 21 and at the beginning of his career as a show producer. We worked together on an AIDS benefit, Balade de l’Amour. Since then his career has exploaded and besides creating the most spectacular fashion shows in memory he now designs furniture and the above pictured futuristic exhibition space for Zurich-based Galerie Gmurzynska during the inaugural TEFAF New York Spring at the Park Avenue Armory this past week.

“A brutalist yet minimalist and futuristic setting for a powerful art selection…all in concrete, mirror and light lines in authentic Betak manner! “- Alexandre de Betak

Betak incorporated architectural details such as LED lights that form a grid-like matrix reflected by mirrors, creating an optical experience that showcases the art in its pure visual desirability. Behind the mirrors is a hidden cubicle that serves as a private gallery accessed by an unmarked revolving door.
