I enjoyed Philippe’s Metal Magazine article celebrating Mats Gustafson and his recently published book by Rizzoli, Dior by Mats Gustafson. I could not resist pulling up one of the illustrations Mats did for me back in the day when I was a fashion designer for my own brand. Like Philippe says in his article about Mats, he is a very humble man. When I asked him, back in the 80’s if he could consider doing my one and only look book, he came to my atelier with his portfolio to show me his work, as if I needed to see it, I was in love with his work by then, humble…talented…gracious and elegant…the words that come to mind when I think of him now and then. I suggest you go out and pick up a copy of Metal to read the full article.
