Antonio Marras text by Chiara Sabatini

Dear Shaded Viewers,

This story begins with an intimate letter of a woman who talks about her life and her journey as a scientist and a revolutionary.

Her name was Eva Mameli, the first Italian woman to obtain a teaching certification in botany and the mother of one of the most important Italian writers, Italo Calvino.

I was fascinated by how Antonio Marras recounted the life of Eva, he invented  a sophisticated wardrobe for her, with the colors of the flowers that she loved so much and with the attention to details of a scientific mind.

Fashion becomes the opportunity to mix different worlds and different disciplines. There are contrasts everywhere with embroidery, prints, leopard inserts, flowers, jacquard, lace, and also in the choice of the models.

Inspired by the extraordinary Pina Bausch, Marras showed the new collection in an unusual way with women and men of different ages, models, dancers, even a dog that runs on the catwalk.

Because his collection is created for all…even for icons like Benedetta Barzini, he put her elegant presence on the catwalk.

A declaration of love to the strength of women with an attitude which was both poetic and impetuous at the same time.

Later,

Chiara
