At a glance: Stephane Rolland FW17, as complex as a pen stroke

Referencing Brancusi, Michelangelo and Rodin, Stéphane Rolland went for gravity-defying swathes of fabric that cut through the air for his summer 2017 couture. As sculptures slicing the air, they were superb and well-matched to Xinhua gallery where they were presented. As garments, it would take a strong woman indeed to wear any of these, lest her movements are arrested by the powerful dance of cloth and abstraction.
