Branko Popović – Serbia Fashion Week SS17

Dear Shaded Viewers,

You may know Branko Popović as one of the co-founders of Fashionclash -the interdisciplinary festival and designer platform taking place in Maastricht every July- but he’s also a talented menswear designer, invited this season by the organizers of Serbia Fashion Week in Novi Sad to showcase a retrospective. Resolutely graphic and slightly futuristic, Popović’s clothes are sleek and body-conscious, but also embellished, from textural effects emphasized by stark fabric contrasts to striking embroidery and deluxe fringing. Coats were either padded or hooded, while pants were often straight and roomy to anchor the silhouette. It’d be great to see him pursue his exploration of menswear and hone his vision, finding an interesting balance between the wearable and the experimental.

Best,

Philippe
