Jose Levy does the costumes and tattoos for Arthur Nauczyciel’s play Splendid by Jean Genet.

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Jose Levy created the looks of the characters in the play with tattoos inspired by 1930's gangsters. On the 7th floor of the Splendid Hotel, seven gangsters are surrounded by the police. They kidnapped and then strangled the daughter of a millionaire. It is the beginning of a dance of the dead while a policeman looks on fascinated and then decides to leave his side and join the gangsters. The play echoes Genet's Un Chant D'Amour which was a film of the sexual desires between two prisoners.
