RICK OWENS OPENS LOS ANGELES STORE

Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,

Rick Owens has returned back to his roots and has opened his first store in Los Angeles.

The 450 square meter warehouse down the street from the Plaza Salon Bar where Owens spent many nights 20 years ago.

His goal with the store is to create something the mirrors the style of Cecil B. Demille, and he worked with architect Anna Tumaini to achieve his vision. For Owens, this vision meant high ceilings, a fog machine and a floor-to-ceiling tank swimming pool in the middle of the space.

Owens also created a courtyard with high white walls with an exposed sky that resembled a movie screen in a way.

Owens believes these cinematic references represent what inspired him when he was growing up in California.
