BERNHARD WILLHELM DEBUTS SPRING SUMMER 2016 COLLECTION

Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,

Bernhard Willhelm presented his Spring / Summer 2016 Adam and Eve themed collection this week.

The collection consists of 69 unisex looks that tell a reimagined version of the Adam and Eve story. Willhelm imagined the two standind under a banana tree and Adam pouring toffee sauce on Eve, and the story unraveled from there.

The symbolism of the banana can be interpreted countless ways, and the motif of the banana throughout the collection was Willhelm’s way of saying that the collection does not have one single meaning. Rather, Willhelm is focused on exploring human sexuality, sense of humor, taste and “quest for utopia.”

The banana is seen throughout the collection in elements like the Racket-Tailed Drongo bird, the banana planation workers, curves of accessories, and prints. Each individual representation of the banana adds to the overall theme of the origins of man and human nature.
