Dear Shaded Viewers,
One of Spain's most popular designers, Juan Vidal presented a flirty and charming collection in Madrid. The show emphasized his use of exclusive prints, as well as unusual color combinations. Focusing on the dress as a key item, Vidal imagined a breezy summer wardrobe relying on stylish separates, made mostly of silk and transparent fabrics. Most of the designer's garments underlined female curves and were inspired by lingerie, echoing the sultry appeal of 1950s actresses. Vidal also indulged in ruffles, one of Madrid's major trends this season. Balancing cheeky with elegant, he revealed skin while keeping a sense of modesty. His motifs referenced Art Nouveau, merged with 1970s kitsch. It was a fresh and youthful proposal, with plenty of desirable clothes. Think Lolita meets Suspiria.
Best,
Philippe
