ALEXANDRA MOURA – MODALISBOA FW15/16 – TEXT BY PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI PHOTOS BY RUI VASCO

Dear Shaded Viewers,

One of Portugal's most relevant and creative designers, Alexandra Moura presented a striking and directional collection during the latest edition of ModaLisboa. Moura knows how to cut sleek and tailored garments for men and women, but her talent resides in mixing unexpected volumes and her singular take on embellishment, underlining the handicraft found within her pieces. This season, she had bows and straps in mind, as well as a genderless notion of beauty, which tapped into fashion's current mood. Outerwear was roomy and strong, from gorgeous faux furs to lightweight hooded coats, as well as structured felt trenches. Focusing on a neutral palette of black, cream, sand and soft pastels, she achieved a cocoon-like effect with oversized shapes and generous pants and sweaters, hovering between the ease of sportswear and the rebellion of punk. Iconic details, such as bondage straps, cotton bows and contrasting polka dots, gave an edge to the collection, which seemed chic and effortless at the same time.

Best,

Philippe
