JESSICA TROSMAN’S JT A/W15: MUTUARETROMORFA, ARGENTINIAN DESIGN “IN UNITY & FREEDOM” . . .

Dear Shaded Viewers,

It’s Monday evening in Buenos Aires but it feels like a Friday night in Paris.
As JT’s director Jessica Trosman would say “dress everyday as if you are going everywhere, but dress artistically well”.  After three collections the Argentinian born designer continues her transatlantic voyage, from Buenos Aires to Paris and back, with a hint of poetry in her newest collection. In her forty-one timelessly versatile looks Trosman reveals her vision for A/W15 women – and they are more confident than ever. I adore those male simil-leather pants appropriated by females – they have never been sexier!

Customized first-class leather and wool from her native Argentina have been subjected to fine art interventions courtesy of artist Vicente Grondona. Best known for his charcoal carving, Grondona’s involvement adds to the charming freedom and expressive volume that these pieces move with. These are pieces that should be treasured as personal property – like an illustration, a sculpture, or a painting – and should be seen as an extension of the owner’s personality. They symbolize what kind of woman you are!

More than this, these garments also offer a subtler political message behind their artistry. Both Trosman and Grondona share a concern for the ecological disaster-taking place in South America (it is no coincidence that Trosman’s flagship store in Buenos Aires is dominated by flora). It is through this shared concern, mutual appreciation, and provocation, that these two have been able to collaborate successfully with the results there for all to see: her woman intrigues, is not timid in her voice, but above all is NOT TO BE UNDERSTOOD.

It is Jessica Trosman’s fourth collection for JT, and Paris loves it!
Best,
MHM.
