Deboutonner La Mode at Les Arts Decoratifs opens tomorrow until 19 July and it is a must see Part 1

Dear Shaded Viewers,

At first I was not quite sure how I would feel about an exhibition dedicated to buttons but having spent a few hours at the Les Arts Decoratifs this morning I can tell you that I was truly touched by this exhibition of more than 3000 buttons with a selection of 100 garments and accessories both men and women and coming from houses like Paul Poiret, Elsa Schiaparelli, Christian Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Chanel, Patrick Kelly, Givenchy, Mme Gres, Balenciaga, … The amazing collection was put together by Loic Allio and along with the buttons you will find portraits of women in the style of Fragonard, a trio of buttons inspired by La Fontaine fairy tales, buttons inspired by Sonia Delaunay and Line Vautrin. There are so many pieces that I want to show you that I will break it down into a series of posts. Be sure to go upstairs to look at the Henri Hamm collection of 900 buttons, there is no way you can walk away from this exhibition without joy and inspiration. Butterfly buttons are obviously Elsa Schiaparelli.

Later,

Diane
