CEDRIC JACQUEMYN FALL WINTER 15/16 – TEXT BY PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI PHOTOS BY YVES DE BRABANDER

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Cedric Jacquemyn is part of an exciting generation of Belgian designers redefining Antwerp cool, combining technical know-how with spontaneous creativity. For his last collection, which he showed in Paris during a busy menswear schedule, Jacquemyn had specific rites of passage in mind, such as blood initiation in New Guinea Islands, stressing the evolutionary nature of some of his garments. The designer played with contrasts this season, protecting the body while revealing skin, balancing graphic black with deep red. Architectural stripes added edge to the silhouette, while Jacquemyn's signature knits were loose and soft. His treatment of skins was refreshing as well, making leather look like plastic and giving fluffy shearling a savage look. Perched on high platform boots -an exclusive collaboration with accessory designer Nico Uytterhaegen- his guys were bold and confident, underlining the seductive presence of his clothes.

Best,

Philippe
