A gentle and teasing, oblique take on the celebratory rush that crowns any athletic or academic achievement, Xander Zhou's proposal for the winter to come features sashes, flags and emblems, capes and coats as soft and warm as pyjamas and just as dreamlike. With turtlenecks of a vaguely Hogwartsian appeal, or milky or blue separates that could vaguely recall retro snowsuits, the collection promised to dress up the graduates of the future with easy tongue-in-cheek charm, in a relaxed, furry or velvety, unusually intimate and tactile mood. Let not yourself be fooled by the infinite cuteness of ribbons and polka dots, however: they would not be any less ambitious than the ones we know well. The metaphor of "gripping" what may be a dream, a sword or an award was quite literally translated in the outlines of delicate embroidered hands, making various appearances upon lapels and scarves, as the word "fingering" written on the press release was making the cheeky audience giggle and blush.
