For those of you that were not born yet during the era of the late '70's to mid 80's, the documentary, Blank City directed by Celine Danhier will definitely interest you. It is from a time when you could actually rent a loft in downtown manhattan for around 600$.
Featured players in the film are Jim Jarmusch and John Waters, Steve Buscemi, Blondie's Debbie Harry, Fab 5 Freddy, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, Amos Poe James Nares, Eric Mitchell, Susan Seidelman, Beth B and Scott B with a soundtrack that includes Patti Smith, Television, richard Hell & the Voidoids, The Bush Tetras….this was NYC when I lived there.
