Jellyfish by John M Armleder, Pantone by Mathieu Mercier
Dear Shaded Viewers,
The latest offering from Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac opened this evening at 7 rue Debelleyme. The group show features work from 36 contemporary artists over 3 floors. One of my favourite pieces from the exhibition was a 30 minute film by Catherine Sullivan called "The Chittendens" on the lower ground floor. Grainy black and white images of human bodies jerking in a sinister dance to a score by Sean Griffin are mixed in with bright scenes of intruiging characters on a rural island.
A very well curated exhibition overall, work sits harmoniously side by side and intertwined together, while retaining the identities of each artist.

Pierre Bismuth. I was surprised to see a copy of the Irish times amongst some of the framed pieces on the wall, a reminder to me that my days left in Paris are numbered. Bismuth created this piece in 1999 when he was examining newspapers and repeating images amidst the text.

The exhibition continues until January 19th.
