201106 kaal 01-142

Dear Shaded Viewers,

It wouldn't be an overstatement to say that Lee Suk-Tae is one of the most exciting Korean designers around. His brand, Kaal E.Suktae, was created in 1997, and his collections keep on surprising press and retailers alike. Lee studied at the prestigious Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and worked for several French houses, such as Christian Dior and Sonia Rykiel. His designs are unique, combining rigorous tailoring with exquisite craftsmanship, using graphic details and unusual colour combinations. His clothes are surprisingly modern, mixing textures and patterns in a very creative way, but they might be too visionary for some. In this exclusive interview, he opens up about Seoul's fashion scene, his sources of inspiration and why he loves jackets so much.
