Dear Shaded Viewers,

One of my nicest encounters in Ethiopia was with Debora De Vita and her unique family. Debora has been designing her home line for a few months now and I love what she does. Of course, it does not hurt that she's striking, smart and speaks several languages. Debora's dad is Italian and she studied fashion in Bologna before working for several companies in Rome. I think we bonded almost instantly and got to meet again with her sister Gloria and brother Massimo. I really like the fabrics, colours and embroidery techniques she uses, giving a typical Ethiopian feel to her work.

Her flower lampshades were cute and one of a kind.

After our improvised photo shoot, she showed me her fashion sketches and this one caught my eye.

Debora is really talented and I'm sure her business will flourish. Last Friday, we went to trendy Italian restaurant Castelli for lunch with her sister Gloria and had a great time. We had this slightly eccentric waiter looking after us and couldn't stop laughing. Looking at these pictures now makes me smile again.
