For the past twenty years Carmen Freudenthal and Elle Verhagen have been working together as a photographic team. Their collaboration is one of the most creative and inspiring in Holland.
Their exhibition, S/S 1989-2009 Freudenthal/Verhagen opens on March 3rd at 19h at Dopolavoro, Via Morimondo 2/7, Milan during Milan Fashion Week and allows the viewer an overview of the volume of their work.
The exhibition is dedicated to their twenty-year collaboration and as in all good art; time has not lessened their impact or relevance.
Photographic images have been published in magazines such as Dazed & Confused, Jalouse, Studio Voice, High Fashion, Visionaire, i-D and Self Service…
Although Carmen Freudenthal and Elle Verhagen are known as ‘fashion’ photographers, their work trandscends the normal boundaries set for fashion photography.
Surrealism is signature to their work and is a result of photographic and technical experimentation and manipulation. References are both classic and contemporary and the duo manages to insert a measured dose of humour to their impeccably styled vision of good taste.
