Dear Shaded Viewers,
I was graciously invited to F/W 09 Copenhagen Fashion Week by the Danish Design Center and the Danish Fashion Institute. While Shoji has already shared images from a few of my favorite shows during Copenhagen Fashion Week such as Bibi Ghost, Moon Spoon, Stein Goya and Henkrik Vibskov (stay tuned for NVU interviews with MoonSpoon, Barbra I Gogni and Bib Ghost), here is a re-cap of the rest of Copenhagen fashion week.
DAY 1
Although the fashion week schedule included shows all over the city giving invited journalists a much appreciated taste of the city, the official venue for this season was the Copenhagen City Hall designed by Martin Nyrop and first opened in 1905. Both the press conference and the opening show by London based, Louise Amstrup took place there.
London based, Danish Born, Louise graduated from the Akadamie Modedesign in 2003 before working with Alexander McQueen, Sofia Kokosalaki and Jonathan Saunders. She started her own label in 2006. The collection featured structured, graphic silhouettes and prints. The head bandages were especially nice and appeared on the cover of Thursday's Dansk Daily.

JULIE FAGERHOIT HEARTMADE presented by Royal Copenhagen
One of the favorite designers of H.R.H the Crown Princes Mary of Denmark. Several exclusive pieces are also on presentation at the flagship store of the porcelain manufacturer for the Danish Monarchy, Royal Copenhagen.
Launched in 2000 and designed by Susanne Rutzou, one of the founding designers of Bruuns Bazaar. It was a collection of easy pieces and light fabrics given a little hardness and cool with long corded necklaces and accessories.
GUNNAR versus VS.
The S/S 09 issue of Vs. Magazine was a tribute to Gunnar Larsen, one of the great Danish fashion photographers. The party was unfortunatly the night before I arrived, but the exhebitions stayed up in the lobby of my hotel (FIRST HOTEL SKT. PETRI) for the entier fashion week.
DAY 2
The cover of thursday's Danks Daily, or pre-show entertainment.
This was Trine Wackerhausen 2nd season showing her Wackerhaus label during Copenhagen fashion week. The colection was full of sleek fabrics and stiff shoulder volumes sprinkled with tough spike adorned shoes and earrings that were a little Givenchy and a little Trash and Vaudeville St. Marks Place.
Alexis Brazilian of US Elle, one of my partners in crime, also invited by the Danish Fashion Institute, at the Wackerhaus show
Vilsbol De Acre presented their collection titled "woven armour" on the 3rd floor of a small theator where they had build a set specially for the presentation. The collection consited of padded jerseys, mixed, patchworked knits and architectural shoulders on power mini dresses.
The Finnish textile and fashion brand, Merimekko are know for their whimsical prints. True to form, the presented a quirky and colorful collection.
BRUUNS BAZAAR
The joint show for Bruuns Bazaar and it's diffusion line BZR was clearly a big deal in Copenhagen. If we were unsure of this after the clamoring at the door and the flights of champagne, it became very clear when the Prime Minister of Denmark walked in and sat across from us.
Earlier in the day at the Dansk Cocktail party we were joined by my friend the Danish actress, Tilly Pedersen, who just happened to be back in Copenhagen the same time as fashion week.
Tilly before we enter the craze at Bruuns Bazaar
After Bruuns Bazaar we were all invited to the Hotel Fox by Suanne Sondahl Wolff from the Danish Design Center for a drink and snack before the Designers Remix Show. 21 different artists were hired to individually decorate each of the 61 guest rooms in the Hotel.

Charlotte Eskildsen chose to show her Designers Remix Collection at the Black Diamond, designed by Danish Architects Schmidt, Hammer and Lassen as a new home for the Royal Library. After our requisite glass of champagne, we slipped into the main theater for the equestrian themed show. Especiall strong were the riding helmuts sculpted out of hair and the patent leather belts used as light restraining devices.
The last show of the day, that of the mens streetwear label Soulland, took place in the old Carlsberg Beer Brewery where Bib Ghost had also shown earlier in the day.
