British Fashion Awards 2007

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Zoe Ball played master of ceremonies at the Lawrence Hall in Westminster for the British Fashion Awards.

Dame Vivienne Westwood received the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design in recognition for revolutionising fashion. Since the 1970s Westwood has developed a global business and created timeless collections that continue to challenge and inspire. Actually the reason that I am in London is because I was a member of the jury for the selection of the designer to be awarded for outstanding achievement . Vivienne is never short on dialogue, she wanted to keep it light but felt compelled to point out the fact that if we do not pay attention to our environment we soon will not have any air to breath. She looked amazing, wants to use her authority beyond the boundries of fashion, unfortunately I did not take a photo of her on the stage nor when she was outside and fell into the arms of Marios Schwab, or rather he caught her in his arms to keep her from falling. Robb was there but I had the camera, he said it was quite sweet.

I did however get a picture of the beautiful Agyness Deyn who received the model of the year award wearing a Giles Deacon dress and receiving her award while talking on her mobile to her mom. Her mom actually had no idea of the awards ceremony and was in the middle of her own private party at home.Cool is the only word one could use to describe this exceptional beauty.

Mandi Lennard and Cassette Playa and Gareth Pugh and Dazed and Confused. Carrie was up for the menswear designer award against Alexander McQueen and Christopher Bailey for Burberry. Christopher won. Gareth was up for the New Designer award against Christopher Kane and Marios Schwab. Christopher Kane received the award.

DP with Marios Schwab, winner of the 100,000 EUROS Swiss Textiles Award and BFC’s Anna Orsini and Rubbish, that is the name of the hilarious publication, not an insult. Jenny Dyson’s issue 2 of Rubbish was in our goodie bag. It takes itself very lightly as is quite obvious by it’s title. Imagine a fashion publication in Paris calling itself Rubbish?
