Dear Shaded Viewers,
Sometimes you go to international fashion weeks and the events start fairly early and end very late and in between you hardly get to discover the city where it takes place. Not so with Russian Fashion Week. You are encouraged to enjoy the city as the shows don’t begin until 5pm at night. I decided to let Robb sleep in as he’s been working and travelling like crazy lately with no breaks in sight. We all had access to drivers and translators but I decided that I could at least walk out the door alone and visit the Red Square. .
There was a rally of some sort going on in the Square. Did you know that red and beautiful have the same meaning here? Imagine what life changes one had to go through from everyone being equal to the current status where you have the extremely rich and the suddenly very poor. Did you know that Moscow is the most expensive city in the world?
I liked this woman, she was trying to explain to me what was going on but of course I had no ideal what she was saying.
I was playing tourist this morning so of course the first thing I did was to visit the blood red church with the onion domes. It kept making me think of Disney land. That is if one did not consider the 9 interior chapels crammed with icons and frescos.
Afterwards I walked back to the hotel and ran into the red haired woman again who was still trying to explain to me what was going on.
By now Robb was up and about and we decided to venture out for lunch. Great food, unbelievably expensive. Think 50+ euros for lunch…luckily we never ate dinner.
The tents for the shows are just behind St. Basil’s cathedral.
Russian women are extremely beautiful, well fit and sexy, hence they like to bare a bit of flesh.

In between the shows we went to the Celebrity lounge and were always well taken care of by the International PR, Kseniya Ponomarenko.

Every night ends with a party. I always exit around lh and Robb stays to party on into the wee hours of the morning. Moscow is like Madrid in the sense that getting home with the day light seems to be the norm.
