In my approach to viewing fashion purely on instinct, I enlisted a “Man on the Street” — someone who had never been to a fashion show before, who doesn’t read fashion magazines and who never uses the word “fashionista” — one of the stupidest words invented by journalists and further perputuated by the unimaginative. (Yes, this is a plea for an embargo on this odious word, a word that makes my gnarled toes curl every time I have to hear or read it. Not that the following are any better, but I’d like to get the ball rolling to spark some invention for some fresh terminology: “fashnatic,” “fashnero / fashnera” (depending on the gender you’re claiming), “User.” Yeah, they’re stupid, too, but at least now you’re thinking about it…)
